Rescue

Rescue is a TSET grantee that promotes smokefree places of entertainment for young adults through Free The Night. Free The Night promotes voluntary smokefree policies in bars and clubs. Free The Night works with bar owners to survey patrons to determine support for smokefree environments. Generally, at least 70% of patrons agree that tobacco-free bars and clubs are preferable.

Free The Night

Free The Night is a statewide campaign in Oklahoma dedicated to supporting voluntary policy for smokefree bars and clubs. All employees and customers have the right to a healthy environment and should have the freedom to enjoy the night out without toxic secondhand smoke. Free The Night engages in community outreach to bar owners and patrons to inform them about the benefits of smokefree air, as well as supporting bar owners who are interested in making their bar or club smokefree.

Why Smokefree?

The science is clear: there is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke. Among Oklahomans overall, smoking rates are decreasing and awareness of secondhand smoke’s dangers is increasing. More than 7 out of 10 Oklahomans do not smoke – making smokefree bars better for business and better for health.
